We asked ourselves what could come out from the next 6 hours of racing
A quick jump overseas, then back to Europe. Istanbul Park returns on the e-Racing Series calendar to host round 3 of the eSport Endurance Series Season 5. On a popular racevenue for open wheels, we will see how our three classes will behave.
Turn 8
Can you really talk about Istanbul Park without mentioning Turn 8? This corner is not only one of the most famous in the motorsport world, but it is very challenging as well. Keeping your cool behind slower class cars in this long section will be key on a track that overall offers many opportunities for overtakes. There might not be DRS, but the long straight that introduces drivers to sector 3 will certainly spice up the competition in the field.
Contrary to what we saw in Virginia, this track has big paved runoff areas and walls are a bit far from the track. Bigger spaces also allow damaged cars to come back to the pits for repairs in a safer way. Will we see a more linear race strategy-wise with less Full Course Yellow procedures being called?
Who will take over in the Hypercar class?
Four teams in the space of 11 points. While in LMP2 PRO the two Hyperion Esports teams are building a nice gap to the cars behind, in Hypercar nothing is written in stone. Following maiden win of the season, ARMS Cyrba are now leading the standings, but the two Satellite Racing entries, along with the Hydra Tech BSR #10, are close behind. Also, we should not forget about #1, which scored 0 points in race one and had a disconnection in the second round and will definitely look to bounce back immediately.
For this race, Hypercar also received a little BOP that should slightly enhance the performance of the Toyota. While the change is the same for everyone, as the class is a monobrand, it will be interesting to see if this somehow affects the teams.
Caspian Motorsport look to extend the lead at home
As you might know from our drivers’ map, we have a leading team looking to extend the lead in the standings in their home race. We are talking about Caspian Motorsport. With a P1 and a P2 in the first two races, they are in control of the class, but have to watch their backs from HG Esports BlueBolt and round 2 winners SimFreem eSports JT.
Taking a look at the GTE AM standings, we have two teams tied at 52 points, Carloni Racing Black and Tomelli ERT. Round 3 will be useful to understand if this dualism is set to continue, or if other teams might emerge from the midfield.
